Today is the birthday of one of the most fantastic people in my life. Hearts on fire.
BHB is the single most greatest gift I have ever been granted. If we could ride bikes it would be in tandem. If we could walk the beach, he would hold my elbow. If we were a comedy duo he would set up my punch lines. If I smoked weed he would pass me the doobie.
Today is your day. Shine on!
Gifts to you would come in the form of travels to places all my favorite poets have trudged.
1. Neruda’s Isla Verde
2. Rimbaud’s Harar, Ethiopia
3. Juan Ramon Jimenez’s Havana, Cuba
4. Robert Creeley’s Mallorca, Spain
5. and the list itself is endless like my love…
“If You Forget Me”
By Pablo Neruda
I want you to know
You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists:
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats that sail
toward those isles of yours that wait for me.
