While at the Verge art fair in Miami, I was enchanted by the works of Yoko Furusho. At the tender age of 21, the Japanese native is successfully working as an illustrator in New York City. Her works on paper are textured and exhibit the careful selection of color and motif, nice brush strokes and careful lines. Her illustrations are full of fantastical characters and little girls with roaring imaginations. Think Yoshitomo Nara… She is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts and is now being represented by Brooklyn’s Rosa Gitana Gallery.
She says the above works titled Fiction is a “series based on a girl who shows her thoughts on the surface of her head.” I had to have one! And it took me a while to decide which one would be mine, but I’m pretty confident it best suites me and my internal tendencies!
Thank you Brett and Vanessa from RG.
